Many times in the past we’ve gone to auctions in bad weather hopeful that the competition will stay home. It is true that some people stay home. But for the most part, the usual collection of dealers show up regardless of the weather. When I pulled in at an auction this week as it was sleeting and when I saw how few cars there were in the lot my heart nearly skipped a beat. With fewer people there though a funny thing can happen. Some dealers run out of money faster than they normally would because there isn’t the usual amount of money present. I’m not sure if I’ve explained that well. They keep getting things because there are fewer people to bid against. But the prices aren’t necessarily any cheaper until folks really begin to run out of funds.
This week I only had one lot that I really, really wanted; these Pink Roses China which were made by the Homer Laughlin Co. for distribution by the Lifetime China Co. Thankfully it took a long time to get to them so I did get them in the end. But had they come up earlier, they certainly would have gone for a whole lot more. Happy girl, Happy girl!
A set like this always makes me whince a little. Maybe I could get rid of some other dishes and keep these. No, no. I shop for others. They’ll probably go to a really good home, someone who won’t let them get as filthy as the last folks did.
I also got this little layette basket filled with baby doll clothing. The clothing has to be laundered. Going through it quickly I thought some pieces were too, too cute. Some are homemade, with exceptional workmanship. I hate ironing those little suckers though.

I just Love the dishes. I have a set very similar to them. My fav is the basket. Vintage graphics just speak to me… LOL!!
Have a great day!!
